Classroom:Ammann was a member of the 2007 America East All-Academic lacrosse team and the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I team. Boasts a 3.87 cumulative GPA in accounting with a dual minor in business administration and mathematics. Has been a Presidential Scholar, a member of the University of Albany Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll, the University Presidential Honor Society, the Golden Key National Honor Society, Beta Alpha Psi, the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. Was also New York State Regents Scholarship Recipient.
Character:Head coach Scott Marr - "Mike and his twin brother, Steve, are tremendous leaders. Mike tends to lead by example rather than be vocal like his brother. They have helped direct our younger guys, especially in the classroom where they are tutors in several subjects. The have shown a willingness to do the little things and are constantly looking for ways to help." Is one of the team captains.
Competition:Ammann was voted second-team All-America East Conference in 2007. He finished tied for fifth on the team in scoring with 31 points last season. He totaled 11 goals and 20 assists as a junior and scored twice against three opponents. He scored multiple points in 11 games and had a career-high five assists vs. UMBC in America East championship game. Accounted for 10 points and 15 ground balls as a sophomore and scored against seven opponents. He had three goals and five assists in 16 games played as a freshman and had a season-high two assists against Quinnipiac . UAlbany reached the NCAA quarterifinals for the first time in 2007 with a school-record 15-3 campaign and the Great Danes won their fourth America East championship in the last five years.
